Building a smarter computing culture in Fargo, ND

E-books

Our project involves students in FArgo writing books for students in Sudan, but we are also finding (or being lead to) a number of great e-book resources.

Open Culture’s Free Textbooks: primarily high school and college, multiple disciplines.

Since our project has a literacy component, we are interested in the Get Books activity: http://activities.sugarlabs.org/en-US/sugar/addon/4304
An alternative download is available from http://sugo-katta.appspot.com/GetBooks.xo

To find books, in addition to Project Gutenberg there’s the lesser-known International Digital Children’s Library:

The pages are stored as pictures so you’ll probably want a script to download everything, or have the students browse online.
