Code Concepts I: Performing the Algorithm | HASTAC

Code Concepts I: Performing the Algorithm | HASTAC.

As our project has been evolving, we have been trying to figure out how to teach proceduracy–the logic of programming, including writing as a set of procedures– if not programming itself. The above HASTAC blog post gives 3 non-computer examples:

1. Instructions for making PBJs.

2. Assembling toddler puzzles, but adding in nonsense steps.

3. Creating an algorithm for moving through time and space.

These all seem great starters, but I also think there is going to need to be some more complex non-computer examples for me and our students to really understand how a Google algorithm works.
